Lake Matoaka Amphitheater

The Lake Matoaka Amphitheater holds another story of “Glory,” deterioration and rebirth. The beautiful lakeside setting was home to Paul Green’s outdoor drama, “The Common Glory,” depicting Revolutionary-era Williamsburg, from 1947-1976. The amphitheater began to decay when the play ceased, and grass grewhttp://www.fifeanddruminn.com/College of William and Mary - Secrets.doc through the seats. Now, thanks to an anonymous donor (rumored to be a certain actor or actress who once performed in the “Common Glory”), the amphitheatre has been restored and even improved beyond its original condition, providing a spectacular venue for outdoor drama and concerts.
