Named after the grandfather of the owner, this room features memorabilia from the restoration project during Mr. Hitchens’ days as a merchant on Duke of Gloucester Street in the 1920s.  Along with a collection of postcards from the earliest days of exhibiting the restored buildings, there are letters to Mr. Hitchens from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and Dr. W.A. R. Goodwin, the originators of this fabulous restoration.

An actual antique scale from Mr. Hitchens’ General Store, once located on the site of the 1774 Armory, hold wooden apples which set the color scheme of this room in a cheery apple green and red.  The painted hardwood floors add a touch of fun!

The queen size four poster bed has crisp cotton percale sheets and is hung on all sides with drawn back curtains, evoking days of old.

The full bath includes a pedestal sink, separate closeted toilet and tiled, seated shower with European shower massage.  Fabulous shower amenities are provided.  There is a hair dryer in the bathroom.

Wrap up in the monogrammed cotton bathrobes which you will find in the antique wardrobe.  The TV/DVD is hidden in one of our unique birdhouse cabinets, created in the colonial style.  You adjust your own temperature with the wall mounted thermostat.
