Williamsburg City Layout The main drag of the city is the Duke of
Gloucester Street it is the area's principal east-west artery. From the
colonial Capitol
The Duke of Gloucester street looking east towards the Capitol. Richmond Road (U.S. 60 West) runs northwest from the end of the Duke of Gloucester and is Williamsburg's main commercial strip. Within the city limits there are many motels, restaurants, and shopping centers. Outside the city you will find a plethora of shopping and outlet malls. Many locals still refer to this strip as the “golden mile”. Jamestown Road (U.S. 31 West) is the other main artery that extends from the west end of the Duke of Gloucester. It will take you southwest and you can follow it all the way to the James River. On the east side of town, York Street/Pocahontas Trail (U.S. 60 East) will take you to Busch Gardens.
